Richard Windley

Richard Windley

After originally serving an engineering apprenticeship and working in the audio and recording industry for several years, Richard set up his first workshop as a designer maker in wood and precious metals in 1976, specialising in boxes and containers.

The themes of containment, protection, secrecy and hoarding have informed the design and production of a long evolving series of boxes, and more latterly, vessels ranging in size from small jewel-like pieces to large organic, almost monumental, elemental objects.

He has lectured part-time in 3D Design at Hereford College of Art, as well as making models and reconstructions for film and television productions.
