The Bluecoat Display Centre (Bdc) is based on College Lane in the heart of Liverpool city centre. Over the past 60 years we have curated an annual programme of diverse solo, thematic, material and discipline-based exhibitions against the backdrop of our beautiful Grade I listed gallery space.

Our exhibition programme showcases the highest quality work by emerging and established makers based across the UK, as well as internationally. The range and ambition of work we show is underpinned by exceptional making and our visitors have always appreciated the diverse variety on display.

We are consistent advocates of talent development. We have always supported and given opportunities to graduates and new makers to secure the future of craft. This includes our commitment to craft education and the need to safeguard and promote craft skills through our work with local schools and North West universities, as well as Meet the Maker events and workshops hosted in the gallery for our friends and retail customers.

This rich legacy gives Bdc strong connections with many of the leading contemporary makers from the late 1950s to the present day.  Bdc has an established reputation for excellence with makers, collectors, curators and audiences who come to visit from around the country and beyond.
