Large Round Vase by Benefield Spencer Glass

£69.00

A larger version of their best-selling small round vase, this one is best suited to arranging a more substantial  array of short-stemmed flowers (our preferred vessel for roses).

Mixing contemporary with the traditional, this large round glass vase features the distinctive filigrana style of blown glass with an alternating pattern of clear and white canes, which originated on the island of Murano in the 16th Century.

"I try to build on the long history of glass by inventing new patterns, exploring permutations, and increasing my understanding of the material by going back to the original conditions of fire and gravity, using the same tools that have shaped glass for two millennia." - Scott Benefield

Scott Benefield and Andrea Spencer are Benefield Spencer Glass. Established in 2010, their studio operates from an old farm property on the rugged north Antrim coast just outside of the village of Ballintoy in Northern Ireland.

All of their work is designed, produced and finished in their studio entirely by hand. This limited production is made by combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, with the end result being objects that have the tool marks and slight irregularities of handmade goods but adhere to the highest standards of finish.
