Chung Tyson Workshop are fully qualified architect-makers Ming Chung and Nick Tyson.
On graduating from UCL and Architectural Association with Distinction and Honours, they honed their experience in leading design practices and workshops in London. The practice is currently based in a converted Coach House and self-built brick studio in Manchester where they continue to balance design, making and teaching in Architecture.
There is a focus on the inventive use of architectural materials to explore qualities of hand-craft alongside digital fabrication techniques with a design process that involves hand sketching and making of prototypes in the workshop to assess inherent material properties, tactility and delight.
The reductive simplicity of completed pieces are intentional with an aim to reveal the beauty of materials and making process by the careful consideration of details to elevate everyday objects into something useful and elegant.
