Textile Art Brooch Inspired by Vivienne Westwood by Michelle Holmes
£30.00
Round brooch featuring a unique free machine embroidered image of a woman inspired by the fashion designer and punk icon Vivienne Westwood.
Dame Vivienne Westwood was an English business woman and fashion designer. Her ability, alongside Malcolm McLaren, to synchronise clothing and music shaped the 1970's punk scene. She described punk "as a way of seeing if one could put a spoke in the system"
Renowned textile artist Michelle trained in Embroidered Textiles at Loughborough University and now works from a new studio housed within an old red brick Methodist Chapel in Melbourne just over the border into Derbyshire. Her creative practice is rooted in her love for drawing with stitch, appliqué and collage. She works by re-purposing fabrics and exploring the reflective and tactile qualities of natural fibres.
Stiches are made with free machine embroidery made on a Bernina Sewing Machine coupled with hand stitching.
Materials - re-purposed wool, cotton and leather with a soft leather backing and metal brooch pin
Dims: Height 6.5cm x Width 5.25cm
