Millicent Sanders
Millicent Sanders is a textile designer-maker from Yorkshire and 2021 graduate
of Central Saint Martins. Her studio is currently based in an ex mill in Keighley,
Bradford. Millicent works by hand on a 1971 dubied knitting machine to develop
fabrics which are applied to fashion and homewares.
Knitting exclusively with deadstock yarns, she ties yarns together on the machine,
creating tiny knots which give each piece a unique fingerprint pattern. Millicent
loves colour and texture and finds designing with waste yarns an exciting
opportunity to play with new colours in each piece she makes. After sourcing a
selection of yarns which work together, she knits with them as if she were painting
to curate new and exciting colour ranges. Her favourite fibres to work with are;
lambswool, cashmere, alpaca and linen.
