Round brooch featuring a unique free machine embroidered image inspired by the painter Winifred Nicholson.
20th century painter Winifred Nicholson (1893-1981), best known for her still life and landscape paintings, Nicholson's impressionistic works are a celebration of light and colour.
Renowned textile artist Michelle trained in Embroidered Textiles at Loughborough University and now works from a studio housed within an old red brick Methodist Chapel in Melbourne just over the border into Derbyshire. Her creative practice is rooted in her love for drawing with stitch, appliqué and collage. She works by re-purposing fabrics and exploring the reflective and tactile qualities of natural fibres.
Stitches are made with free machine embroidery made on a Bernina Sewing Machine coupled with hand stitching.
