"We met during our apprenticeships to the potter Rupert Spira in the late nineties. In 2002 we set up our workshop in rural Carmarthenshire where we still live and work. We have degrees in Painting and value that background for the greater aesthetic understanding and sensitivity it has given us. We are lucky to have such a successful creative partnership with naturally complementing skills. In essence, James makes and Tilla designs. Functionality is important to us; when an object is designed and made with skill and care, it is a joy to use it can become a cherished possession, enriching daily life. There is often a character in hand-made objects which we like; a kind of warmth or comfort, perhaps due to its human connection." - James & Tilla
