A beautiful cilcain bud vase in a buff stoneware clay, simply finished with a loosely applied off-white matte glaze.
Sarah Bartlem’s ‘Cilcain’ collection is inspired by the area where she now lives in north east Wales. This is her square mile, or ‘Filltir Sgwâr’ – an idea which conveys a deeply felt connection to a specific area, the people within it, and the shared experiences that create a sense of identity and belonging. Her own village of Cilcain is surrounded by stone buildings, mossy walls and a beautifully rugged landscape, all of which find an echo in her work.
