Primavera Portrait Textile Art Brooch by Michelle Holmes

£30.00

Round brooch featuring a unique free machine embroidered image inspired by the painting Primavera by Botticelli.

Primavera is a large panel painting in tempera paint by the Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli made in the late 1470s or early 1480s.  It is this painting that has inspired this wonderful piece of free machine and hand embroidery mixed with applique.

Renowned textile artist Michelle trained in Embroidered Textiles at Loughborough University and now works from a studio housed in a Georgian stable block in the valley of Staunton Harold. Her creative practice is rooted in her love for drawing with stitch, appliqué and collage. She works by re-purposing fabrics and exploring the reflective and tactile qualities of natural fibres.

Stitches are made with free machine embroidery made on a Bernina Sewing Machine coupled with hand stitching.

Materials - re-purposed linen, cotton and leather with a soft leather backing and metal brooch pin

Dims:   Height  6cm x Width 5cm
