Pink Sailor Vase by Chris Turrell

£319.00

The images on this vase relate to the romance of the sea, travel and discovery. The portraits are of anonymous sailors as they represent ideas of male friendship and comradeship. They are positive images of maleness, full of joy and nostalgia.

The vases are glazed on the inside and beeswaxed on the outside so they just need a gentle wipe to clean them.

Chris Turrell’s figurative work explores the quieter side of masculinity. Influenced by poetry, Modernism and works by Paul Klee, he works intuitively creating unique character studies imagining the stories and thoughts of each portrait.

He hopes to create pieces that intrigue the viewer and provide moments of contemplation and thoughtfulness.

Chris uses a variety of different stoneware clay bodies to give rich backgrounds for brightly coloured slips and oxides to create vibrant and lively surfaces.
